Memories of Mary by our Facebook supporters collected in 2021
“Auntie Mary, what can I say? We as a family have wonderful memories of great times with Auntie Mary, Jimmy & Angela in the Moulders. She was a great Landlady to all her customers, which many were treated as her extended family. She was well known for her cooking & baking. Both Auntie Mary and our mum Anna (her sister) shared lovely memories about working in the pub trade”. - Geraldine Mccormick
“I went in there only a couple of times and she was such a lovely welcoming lady. I remember she had a small china plate on a stand behind the bar, which included a lovely photograph of JFK and Jackie Kennedy which may have been a souvenir of the JFK visit to Ireland in the June before he was assassinated”. - Pat Smyth
“I was in the same form class with Jimmy (Mary’s son) whilst at Cardinal Newman and when each of us turned 14 Mrs Keaney would serve us a pint of beer, it was considered an honour. She was a lovely lady and Jimmy was a lovely bloke and friend!!”. - Robert Donohue
“When I was on day release at the tech in the 60s, I used to go in the Moulders with a couple of mates at lunchtime for a game of darts and a pint of Manns brown and mild or two. Mary made us so welcome we never ever made it back to college for the first lesson of the afternoon!”. - Geoff Moule
